Dr. Auwal Abdullahi, an associate professor in the Department of Physiotherapy at the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has been named among the World’s Top 2% Scientists. According to single-source reporting by Daily Trust, the official BUK bulletin disclosed the achievement on Friday, October 9, 2026.
Global Ranking Methodology
The prestigious World’s Top 2% Scientists ranking is developed annually by Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier. It identifies leading global researchers based on citation performance and bibliometric indicators drawn from the Scopus database. The 2026 database was published by Elsevier on October 7, 2026, utilizing a Scopus snapshot from August 1, 2026.
The ranking system classifies scientists into 20 distinct scientific fields and 174 sub-fields using the Science-Metrix classification system. Inclusion is determined by ranking among the top 100,000 scientists by c-score—both with and without self-citations—or by achieving a sub-field percentile of 2 percent or above.
