ABUJA, Nigeria, Aug. 5 (African News Digest) – A retired Nigerian Army Master Warrant Officer (MWO), Michael Eneware, has reportedly survived a gunshot attack after suspected kidnappers left him for dead during an attack in Karshi, Abuja.
According to reports, the gunmen invaded the community and carried out a kidnapping operation, during which the retired military officer was shot.
The attackers allegedly abandoned Eneware at the scene, believing he had died from his injuries.
He was later rescued by residents and security personnel and rushed to a medical facility, where he is currently receiving treatment.
The incident has renewed concerns over rising insecurity in parts of the Federal Capital Territory, particularly in satellite communities that have experienced repeated attacks in recent months.
As of the time of filing this report, security agencies have not issued an official statement on the incident. However, efforts are said to be underway to apprehend those responsible and reinforce security in the area.
