Chiefs Explore Receiving Options as Trade Deadline Approaches
As the Kansas City Chiefs navigate the ongoing NFL season, the team is exploring potential additions to its wide receiver room. While recent trade rumors linked targets like Marvin Harrison Jr.—who was ultimately traded by the Arizona Cardinals to the Houston Texans—the Chiefs are looking closer to home for immediate help, according to single-source reporting.
Justin Watson Scheduled for Monday Visit
According to reports by Arrowhead Pride citing The Kansas City Star, veteran wide receiver Justin Watson is scheduled to visit the Chiefs on Monday.
Watson, 30, initially entered the NFL as a fifth-round draft pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2018 NFL Draft, winning Super Bowl LV with the franchise alongside Tom Brady. Standing at 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds, Watson later signed with Kansas City in 2022 and remained with the team through the 2024 season. During his previous three-year span with the Chiefs, he appeared in 50 regular-season games, recording 64 receptions for 1,064 yards and seven touchdowns.
Addressing Receiving Needs
The potential visit comes as the Chiefs evaluate depth and production at the wide receiver position. With the trade deadline approaching and the team managing various adjustments within its offensive unit, bringing back a familiar face in Watson could offer stability and veteran experience to the Kansas City roster.
