The North Central Media Forum (NCMF) reports that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State and the North Central region, Distinguished Senator Dr. George Akume, CON, on Thursday visited the National Headquarters of the City Boy Movement (CBM) in Abuja.
The visit provided an opportunity for Senator Akume to motivate, encourage and appreciate the national leadership and dedicated volunteers of the City Boy Movement for their activities in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Beyond a show of solidarity, the visit underscores the growing importance of grassroots mobilisation and community-based leadership in strengthening public engagement with the Federal Government’s policies and programmes.
Reacting to the visit, the President of the North Central Media Forum and a Local Government Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, Hon. Abubakar Yakubu Angara, commended Senator George Akume for recognising and encouraging the organisation’s leadership and volunteers.
Hon. Angara described the SGF’s gesture as a significant morale booster for members of the movement, noting that it sends a positive message from the national leadership to coordinators and volunteers working at the grassroots.
According to him, the recognition demonstrates that the contributions of local coordinators and volunteers are being noticed and valued, particularly as they continue to engage communities and promote greater understanding of government policies and programmes.
He said that, as a Local Government Coordinator, he had witnessed increasing commitment among members to strengthen grassroots engagement, raise public awareness and communicate the policies, programmes and achievements of the Tinubu administration.
Hon. Angara acknowledged that some of the economic reforms introduced by the Federal Government, including the removal of fuel subsidy, have created significant challenges for many Nigerians. However, he stressed the need for effective communication about the interventions and support measures being implemented by the government to cushion the impact of the reforms on citizens.
He further reaffirmed the commitment of the City Boy Movement to grassroots mobilisation through community development initiatives, youth empowerment, support programmes, public enlightenment and other nation-building activities designed to advance the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The NCMF President emphasised that achieving meaningful progress requires unity, responsible communication and sustained engagement with communities. He assured that coordinators and volunteers of the movement remain committed to taking the message of Renewed Hope to Nigerians at the grassroots.
He noted that the encouragement received from the SGF would further strengthen the resolve of members to deepen their activities and contribute positively to national development.
The visit therefore marks another significant engagement between national leadership and grassroots mobilisation structures, highlighting the importance of recognising the efforts of citizens and volunteers who continue to participate in public awareness and community engagement.
IN GOD WE TRUST.
