Jets Offense Short-Handed Again in Week 5

According to reports by Sports Illustrated, the New York Jets will be missing key offensive personnel for the second consecutive week. Running back Breece Hall has been officially ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns due to a quad injury.

In addition to Hall, the Jets will also be without wide receiver Adonai Mitchell, who is sidelined with a finger injury. Despite being short-handed, the Jets remain favored at home in the Week 5 matchup as they search for their second win of the 2026 NFL season.

Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis to Step Up

With Hall sidelined, the Jets backfield will rely on Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis. During Week 4, Allen operated as the team’s primary ballcarrier, commanding 93.8 percent of the offensive snaps and rushing 14 times for 59 yards.

Analysts anticipate Allen will handle a significant workload against Cleveland. The Browns’ defense has struggled against the run during the 2026 season, ranking 26th in opponent rush EPA, 27th in opponent rush success rate, and allowing 4.6 yards per carry.

Replacing a Dual-Threat Focal Point

Losing Hall presents a substantial challenge for Aaron Glenn’s coaching staff. Over the course of the 2026 season, Hall has recorded 51 rushing attempts for 163 yards and one touchdown, alongside 10 receptions for 102 yards out of the backfield.

Sports Illustrated betting analysts note that leaning heavily on the running game could be an effective strategy against a vulnerable Cleveland rush defense, paving the way for players like Allen to secure extended opportunities on Sunday.
