According to reports by Yahoo Sports, wide receiver Justin Watson is officially back with the Kansas City Chiefs. Head coach Andy Reid announced during a Monday press conference that the team has signed Watson to their practice squad as they come out of their bye week.
A Familiar Face Returns to Kansas City
Watson previously played for the Chiefs from 2022 to 2024. After moving on to the Houston Texans last season, he became a free agent following his release at the end of August.
During his initial three-season run with Kansas City, Watson appeared in 50 regular-season games, recording 64 catches for 1,064 yards and seven touchdowns. He also contributed significantly during the postseason, tallying nine catches for 120 yards across three playoff runs and helping secure a pair of Super Bowl championships for the franchise.
Roster Adjustments After the Bye Week
The addition of Watson to the practice squad follows roster adjustments after wide receiver Tyquan Thornton suffered a dislocated ankle in Week 4. While reports noted speculation regarding potential interest in bringing Tyreek Hill back to the team following Thornton’s injury, the Chiefs ultimately chose to pursue a reunion with Watson.
