Governor Ademola Adeleke has been declared the winner of the 2026 Osun State governorship election, defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, by a margin of 66,252 votes.
Adeleke, who contested the election on the platform of the Accord Party, secured 511,067 votes, while Oyebamiji of the APC polled 444,815 votes.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the final result after the collation of votes from the 30 local government areas across the state.
According to the declared figures, 985,079 votes were recorded as valid, while 20,721 votes were rejected.
The victory gives Adeleke another four-year mandate and adds a new chapter to his political career in Osun State. He first became governor in 2022 after defeating the then-incumbent Governor Gboyega Oyetola in a closely contested election.
The 2026 poll followed an intense campaign period, with Adeleke seeking re-election against a strong APC challenge and candidates from other political parties.
The election was, however, not without concerns, as security issues and isolated incidents were reported in some parts of the state, including alleged violence and disruptions during voting and the collation process.
With INEC’s declaration of the final result, Governor Ademola Adeleke is set to continue in office for another four-year term as the Governor of Osun State.
