‎GOV. ALIA PROMISES FULL GOVERNMENT SUPPORT FOR NEW ARMY DIVISION IN THE STATE

MAKURDI, Nigeria – Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the establishment of the newly approved Nigerian Army formations in the state, including the construction and furnishing of the headquarters of the new 5 Division.

Speaking on Tuesday while receiving a delegation from the Army Headquarters Implementation Committee at the Government House in Makurdi, Governor Alia described the new military formations as a major boost to security in Benue.

He pledged to provide land for all the approved military formations and units, as well as the necessary logistics to ensure the smooth take-off of the new division.

The governor expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the new Army formations and locating the headquarters of the 5 Division in Benue. He also thanked the Chief of Army Staff and the Nigerian Army leadership for the decision.

Governor Alia noted that the increased military presence would strengthen security across the state and help address the security challenges faced by communities over the years.

He also congratulated Major General M. K. Gara on his appointment as the pioneer General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 5 Division and assured him of the state’s continued cooperation.

The Army Headquarters Implementation Committee, led by Major General Raymond T. Utsaha, is in Benue to facilitate the establishment of the newly approved military formations and the operational take-off of the 5 Division.
